1851 census - William, aged 10, was living at 19 Top Croft, Wigan with his parents John and Sarah. Also 4 brothers and sisters.
1859 - when getting married, William gave his occupation as a Collier. His father, John Chadwick gave his occupation as a Collier. Thomas Dyke gave his occupation as a Stonemason.
1860 - when his son Thomas was born, William and Ellen were living at Robinsons Houses, Lime street, Wigan. At that time William was a power loom weaver.
1861 census - William, aged 21, was living at 81 Lime street, Wigan with his wife Ellen and his son Thomas. His occuppation was given as cotton power loom weaver.
1862 - when getting married the second time to Mary Ann Mercer, William, aged 22, gave his occupation as a weaver living at Hallgate. His father, John Chadwick also gave his occupation as a weaver. William Mercer gave his occupation as a carter.

1881 census - William, aged 42, was living as head at 72 Greenough Street with his second wife Mary Ann and their children Mary Ann, William, Mary Ann, Emmanuel, James and Lily. William's occupation is stated as a joiner.

1861 - When she died, aged 19. Ellen was still at Robinsons Houses, Lime street, Wigan. Got death cert. Died from 'typhus'

This Mary Ann is maybe the daughter of her mothers first marriage i.e. William Chadwick is not her father.

1851 census - Mary, aged 9, was living at 19 Top Croft, Wigan with her parents John and Sarah. Also 4 brothers and sisters.
